What can we expect now that President Obama is pretty much in the driver's seat of our nation. This could be the end of the United States as we know it. These are some of the questions brought up by Focus On the Family email I recieved recently:
- Will abortion become more deeply embedded in our nation's legal code and more widely accepted … or not?
- Will our military men and women be forced to live with those openly practicing homosexual lifestyles?
- Will same-sex marriage be legalized in more and more states?
- Will President Obama give in to pressure to choose liberal activist judges who act as legislators rather than interpreters of the law?
- Will time-honored Judeo-Christian values be preserved or destroyed in each of our 50 states and in Washington, D.C.?
2 Thessalonians 2 (New King James Version)
1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not comeunless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Focus on verses 10 - 12 for a minute. The world will be given by God a strong delusion that they would believe a lie because they wouldn't receive the love of the truth which is the Gospel. They love their sin more than they love the truth. And this is what's going on in America right now. They've rejected the true Gospel, and God has given them over to their own devices. And listen how they worship and praise Obama our savior as if he was a god who can do no wrong. Listen what Romans 1 has to say about some of what is going on today:
Romans 1 (New King James Version)
8 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
What do we do now?
- Pray - 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (New King James Version) 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
- Preach - 2 Timothy 4:2 (King James Version) 2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
- Praise - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (New King James Version) Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Let's be about the Lord's business till He comes. John 9:4 (New King James Version) 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
That's my take. I hope it helps. - Ed
